Join the ISO for a discussion of the following articles on the developments in Latin America of the past few years, particularly the rise of leaders like Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Evo Morales of Bolivia, who have challenged the dominance of the "Washington Consensus" in Latin America. Chavez, in particular, states he is building "Socialism for the 21st Century."
Many supporters of socialism, and more broadly social and economic justice and labor, have different views as to the nature of these new regimes, and whether to support them fully, offer critical support, or dismiss them. These are important questions that should make for a lively discussion and debate, which holds a special importance for those struggling against imperialism in the belly of the beast!
