Check out the inspiring film, based on an actual strike at the Empire Zinc Mine in New Mexico, about the struggle of miners to overcome sexism and anti-Latino racism to stand up for their rights and win. Proudly on the side of those struggling against exploitation, sexism, and racism, "Salt of the Earth" was made by a Blacklisted crew in the 1950s at the height of McCarthyism. This film was written, directed and produced by members of the original "Hollywood Ten," who were blacklisted for refusing to answer Congressional inquiries on First Amendment grounds.
