1/31 Free Gaza Now: Tear Down Israel's Apartheid Wall!

Palestinians break out of Gaza and flee to Egypt for Supplies 1/23/08

Public Meeting and Discussion
7–9pm, UMass Campus Center room 903

"The breaking of the Rafah wall was an act of liberation. It proves that an inhuman policy is always a stupid policy: no power can stand up against a mass of people that has crossed the border of despair."--Uri Avneri

The Gaza Strip is the largest prison on earth. For months, Israel has imposed a crushing seige on occupied Gaza, which has reduced 85% of Gaza's 1.5 million inhabitants to total dependency on food aid, the highest rate anywhere in the world. Since the seige, more than 95% of businesses and factories have shut down. The sanitation system has ceased to function; raw sewage is spilling out on to the streets, homes and fields. The health system is crippled by Israel's blockade of international aid. Hospitals have run out of funds, medicines and supplies. Starvation is stalking Gaza. These are the conditions that, last week, drove tens of thousands of ordinary Gazans to march to the Rafah border, and storm through Israel's apartheid wall. What does this new development mean for the movement for Palestinian liberation? All are welcome at this meeting to discuss what has taken place in Gaza and what we can do to organize in solidarity here in the US.
