Incidentally, a question is raised by the the title itself. While better known in the U.S. as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" the original title was: "Men who Hate Women."
Thinking about this obvious blunting of the message of the original name tells us a lot about how rampant and ingrained sexism remains in our world.
Stieg Larsson's unexpected death has cut the series of bestselling books short. He should be remembered not only as a brilliant storyteller, but also a committed socialist, activist and journalist against the extreme right-wing of Sweden.
