Thursday, December 11, 7pm
UMass Campus Center, Room 905
Join us for a political discussion of the roots of the oppression faced by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people, how activists have and are fighting against it, and why as socialists we are committed to the struggle for equality, including the ongoing struggle for gay marriage in the wake of the passage of the anti-gay Proposition 8 in California in the recent election.
Specifically, we will be discussing two articles:
The Roots of Gay Oppression by Sherry Wolf from the International Socialist Review Issue #37
Myth of the Black-gay divide by Sherry Wolf from Socialist Worker, Issue 685, Nov. 11, 2008
Sherry Wolf is the author of Sexuality and Socialism: History, Politics and Theory of Gay Liberation, forthcoming from Haymarket Books.
As always, join us Thursday at 6pm in the UMass Campus Center's Blue Wall Cafe to discuss recent articles from Socialistworker.org.
Below are the articles for this week's Socialist Worker Discussion:
We will be discussing the ongoing, historic sit-in of factory workers in Chicago.
